What Is Systematic Equity Investing?
Systematic, or quantitative, equity investing uses research, data, and technology to build diversified stock portfolios in a disciplined, repeatable way.
Rather than relying primarily on individual judgment about a company, a systematic approach typically evaluates hundreds of stocks using measurable characteristics, such as profitability, momentum, quality, risk, investor sentiment, and proprietary signals. These are applied across a broad investment universe to build diversified portfolios that reflect the manager's investment views.
AQR's Approach to Systematic Equities
Since our founding in 1998, AQR has managed systematic equity strategies across a wide range of objectives and implementation styles. Our investment process combines economic intuition, empirical research, and disciplined portfolio construction to seek excess returns across global equity markets.
Our systematic equities platform continues to evolve through ongoing research and innovation, including machine learning, natural language processing, and alternative datasets. These efforts support continual enhancements to our signals, portfolio construction, and trading implementation as markets and technologies evolve.
