Overview

What is Systematic Equity Investing?

Systematic equity investing is a repeatable, data-driven approach that relies on quantitative models to identify opportunities across a broad selection of stocks. At the core of this approach are “signals”, which are rules-based implementations of an investment philosophy (common examples include mispricing and quality-related signals). Over time, systematic equity investing has evolved, leveraging new technology and advanced methodologies.

AQR's Approach to Systematic Equities

AQR has managed alpha-seeking equity portfolios since our inception in 1998. The breadth of research and innovation at AQR continues to enable more sophisticated analysis and deeper insights into market inefficiencies and investor behavior. Our broad range of recent initiatives includes the application of machine learning techniques, including natural language processing, and the utilization of less traditional datasets. These efforts have resulted in a significant expansion of our signal set and enhancements to the weighting of our signals.
