Who We Are

About AQR

AQR is a quantitative investment management firm dedicated to delivering results for our clients. At the nexus of economics, behavioral finance, data and technology, AQR’s evolution has been a continuous exploration of what drives markets and how it can benefit our clients’ portfolios. We offer a range of traditional long-only and alternative strategies spanning equity, macro, arbitrage and multi-strategy solutions to investors around the globe.

History of AQR

AQR—Applied Quantitative Research—was founded in 1998 by Cliff Asness, David Kabiller, Robert Krail, and John Liew. The firm began with a single multistrategy hedge fund offering and soon after launched its first long-only strategy. In 2009, AQR became one of the first alternative managers to offer mutual funds, giving individuals access to the same diversifying strategies previously offered only to institutional investors. In 2012, AQR launched its first UCITS funds, bringing European investors greater access to our strategies. AQR’s innovation has continued with the development of our tax-aware strategies, which go a step beyond solutions that have long been used by taxable investors. We continue to challenge the status quo, apply rigorous research to our investment process, and innovate to meet our clients’ objectives.
